Does anyone have any tips for freshwater fishing?

I just received my fishing license and I plan on going fishing this weekend. Do you have any tips for me?
Freshwater….I’m going to a lake and I really don’t care what kind of fish I get I just wanna catch fish.

For a first fun outing of casual fishing, I’d take a small tackle; sammiches/water and several types of bait.
Chances are you will catch something if you take nightcrawlers, cheese/bread and even hot dog pieces.
That will catch most anything in fresh water lakes.

I’d steer clear of anything that may obstruct your casting and large banks that would make it difficult to reel in your catch!
